If you could see yourself the way I do,
You would understand that your delicate heart is strong enough to love yourself
All of yourself,
Not just the parts you think are acceptable.

You would find delight in your freckles
In your thick, short, fine, long, wavy, straight hair
In your toes, all of them
Whatever that number might be.
You would notice the way the light shines from your eyes when you get excited
The way your heart fills to overflowing when you love
The way your compassion inspires me to see people
As people.

If you could see yourself the way I do,
You would understand that you are a good parent,
You are a capable individual,
You are a creative and delicious character.

If you could see yourself the way I do,
I bet you would spend less time wondering if you’re beautiful.
Because to me, it’s perfectly clear.
You are.
